A Report on the Activities Conducted by School in the Academic Year 2019-20

  • 18 April 2019: Monologue Competition

To offer better opportunities and platform for the students to finesse over the language, Monologue competition was held for the students of std VIII to X. Each contestant wholeheartedly contributed to make the competition tough to be judged and tried to give their best.

  • 16 April 2019: English Handwriting & Essay Writing Competition

With an attempt to explore and nourish the talent of students by literary club, English Hand Writing and Essay Writing Competition was conducted in the school for the students of std V to VII and VIII to X respectively. The competition was open for all and the topics for Essay Writing were :-India of my dreams, Natural Disasters and Save Girl Child.

  • 20 April 2019: Solo song Competition

To bring out the singing talent of the students, Solo Singing competition was held for the students of std. V to VIII. All the participants sang the songs with great zeal which included Patriotic Hindi songs, Old melodies, Hindi Bhajans and English songs. Great support was rendered by the audience and all the participants sang to their level best.

  •  22 April 2019: World Earth Day: To Celebrate World Earth Day a special assembly was held where the students were briefed about the need to keep our earth green in the present scenario. As a mark of contribution for a healthy environment a sapling had also been planted in the school premises.
  • 23April 2019:World book Day

With the aim to encourage children to explore the pleasure of reading books and celebrate World book Day a get together was organized in the library for the students of std V toVII. They all enjoyed reading variety of books and some students shared their experience as books are their best friends.

  • 26 April 2019: Science, Art & Craft exhibition

To discover the undiscovered talent Art & Craft Exhibition was organised in the school, where the students of std.V to XII enthusiastically took part and showcased the extent of their imagination through variety of exhibits which included working models, projects, Charts 3-D models etc

  •  4 May 2019: Workshop on Scilab Conducted by IIT Bombay

A one day workshop attended by Mr. Sudhir Datir (Physics Tr. Junior college section) on Scilab( an open source software created mainly for numerical computations in mathematics, statistics, physics and engineering sciences) conducted by IIT Bombay at IIT Remote centre Bharati Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, Navi Mumbai. The objective was to train the students to use Scilab in their project work and other activities involving higher order computations.

  • Miss Tanvi Adhikari(U-15Yrs.) of std XA of our school made us proud with her commendable achievement by securing 2nd  position in Inter School State Level held at Pandharpur, Dist. Solapur (Dt.2 June 2019 to 5 June 2019) and qualified for National Level at Tamilnadu.
  • 12 June 2019: Seminar on Child abuse Conducted by CACA(child against child abuse)

School Axiom Foundation had organized an orientation programme for the staff to empower against Child Abuse. Mr. Pradip explained the concept of child abuse and highlighted on the various circumstances under which it occurs. Mr. Freddy Perriera informed about the laws formulated for protection of children. Dr. Niharika guided on counseling methods used  for victimized child. The program  concluded with vote of thanks given by Principal Mr. Alok Sharma.

21 June 2019:International Yoga Day Celebration

To celebrate International Yoga Day trainers from  Sahaj Yoga Academy had been called to demonstrate Yoga. The program started with Lighting of lamp followed by chanting of “OM”. All the trainers addressed all three sessions by performing different types of “Pranayama and Aasanas” and discussing the benefits of each. They added that yoga has a great contribution to keep our body physically and mentally fit as well as spiritually awakened.

22nd June 2019: Workshop on Python Conducted by IIT BombayTraining of teachers who are teaching Computer Science with Python was organized by IIT- Bombay on 22nd June 2019 . It was conducted from various remote centers through blended mode using both live video conferencing facility (A-VIEW) and hands-on sessions using spoken  Tutorials. Terna Engineering College, Nerul, Navi Mumbai was one of the Remote Center where Mrs. Shailaja Potdar, Computer Teacher from our school attended the workshop.

  • 4 July 2019: Vanmahotsav   To celebrate World Environment Day students of std V to X actively participated in    Vanmahotsav celebration held in the school premises. A special assembly was held where the students were briefed about the need to plant trees and maintaining greenery around us . Thereafter, students donated saplings and the plantation carried out in the radiant presence of  Hon. Dr. Vilasrao Kadam (Director of  Navi Mumbai Complex), Principal Mr. Alok Sharma, Incharge of all three sections and staff members.

22 Jul 2019: Seminar on the topic ’Save  Earth’By Heart Foundation

A seminar was organised in the school for the students of std, V- X by HEART Foundation on the topic save earth on 22 July 2019. Students were informed about the ways to save mother earth with the help of a documentary which was followed by the questions asked on the same topic. Thereafter students were motivated to write slogans in which 25 slogans would be sent to the prime minister and 200 slogans to the chief minister of Maharashtra.

  • 10 Aug 2019to 25 Aug2019: Space Quiz

 To increase awareness about the space programme of India, an online quiz was conducted by ISRO in coordination with MyGov.in from 10 Aug to 25 Aug 2019.. Around 20 questions had to be answered in 10 minutes. 50 of our students from std VIII to std X participated in the quiz and were awarded certificates of participation.

  • 13 August 2019: Scout and Guide Activity- Tree plantation drive

As a part of Scout and Guide activity Tree Plantation drive was held in school all the students from VI to VIII enthusiastically took part to plant saplings in school premises and all the saplings were equally divided amongst all the different patrols to be taken care off.

  • 14 Aug 2019: Raksha Bandhan Celebration

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan celebration a special assembly was held. The programme started with the recital of mantras. Students gave speeches on the impotance of Raksha Bandhan and some students of std V tied Rakhis to their class mates.

  • 15 Aug 2019: Independence Day Celebration

73rd Independence Day was celebrated in school with great unprecedented patriotic fervour the gamut of celebration activities held in the campus consisted speeches, songs, dances, skits. A dramatization based on how freedom was attained for India was the highlight of the programme . director Dr. V. R. Kadam of Navi Mumbai complex hoisted the tricolour. Principal Mr. Alok Sharma spoke on the sacrifices of the departed leaders and the need to safeguard the hard earned freedom.

  • 19 Aug 2019: Investiture Ceremony:

“Leadership is the capacity to transform vision into reality”- keeping up with this thought the investiture ceremony was held with great zeal and zest. Students of std X and XII were honoured with various designation and adorned with Badges and Sashes accordingly.

  • 26 Aug 2019: Janmashtami Celebration

Janmashtami was celebrated with great fervour and gaiety in school premises. Splendidly a colourful  programme was  organised by the children and staff of the school; where students of nursery to VI std were dressed up in colourful robes of Radha and Krishna. Beautiful decorations were put up to make the event more cheerful and colourful. An act based on the story of Krishna janma was rnacted in the assembly. Students were enlightened about the origin of the celebration and the tradition through speeches. Highlight of the programme was ‘Matki Todh’ competition and the multiple songs.

  • 31 Aug 2019: Ganpati festival Celebration

Ganeshotsav was celebrated in school with the installation of the idol of Lord Ganesha in school premises. As a part of celebrations a special program was organised in the school. A skit based on the life of Ganesha was enacted very beautifully. Students were briefed about the significance of the festival and emphasised on to celebrate eco-friendly Ganpati festival

  • 31 Aug 2019: Teacher’s Day Celebration

Being holiday on 5 Sept 2019 Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 31 Aug 2019. Students of std X and XII took up the responsibility of the teacher for the day and were observed by the supervisors of all 3 sections to be selected as best teachers the programme included multiple dance performances songs and speeches. The programme ended up with the felicitation ceremony to honour all the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school.

  • 14 Sep 2019: Inter School Chess Tournament

An Inter School Chess Tournament was conducted by DSO, Thane (Under Navi MumbaiMunicipal Corporation) at Airoli. Under 17 Yrs. Miss Tanvi Adhikari of std XA won the tournament and qualified for Division level.

  • 14 Sep 2019: Best Teachers’ Award

Our High School Section teacher Mr. Arjun Mohite was honoured with- ‘The Best Teacher Award’ by ‘In Major City Foundation, Navi Mumbai’ on 14 Sep 2019.

  • 16 Sep 2019: Hindi Diwas Celebration

Hindi Diwas was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm. A variety of programmes  glorifying the significance of the national language were held which included songs, dances and speeches. A skit based on the ability of Hindi language to bind  the nation was the highlight of the program. To promote and enhance the glory of our language, for the entire day everybody spoke in hindi only.

  • 17 Sep 2019: Hindi Handwriting & Essay Writing Competition

In order to instill in students the love of writing as well as to re-iterate the importance of our National language, Hindi Handwriting for the students of std V to VII and Essay writing Competition for the students of std VIII to X was organized in the school. All the students enthusiastically participated in the activity and each one tried to portray their best with an amazing interest.

         20 Sep 2019: Career Guidance Program on Merchant Navy Courses

A merchant navy courses was conducted for the students of std X and XII program was organized by B.P. Marine Academy, C.B.D Belapur. Capt. Jarnail Singh and Mr. Bhushan Khairnar guided the students about the scope and opurtunities in naval courses.

         25 Sep 2019: Career Guidance Program on Indian Aerospace &Engineering

An program on aerospace and engineering was conducted for the students of std X and XII. Mr. Abhaydeep Sachan(Sr. Executive Officer-ARDC) guided the students about the scope and opportunities in Indian aerospace and engineering. He also provided information about Sha-Shib scholarship and aptitude test-2020.

         2 Oct 2019:Gandhi Jayanti & Swach Bharat Abhiyaan

To celebrate Gandhi Jayanti photo of Mahatma Gandhi & Lal Bahadur Shastri was garlanded by our Principal Mr. Alok Sharma and the Supervisors of all three sections. It was followed by a campaign of ‘Clean India Drive’. Students were briefed about the need to keep our surrounding clean which included an oath taking ceremony as well to keep our surrounding clean. Later on all the students enthusiastically took part to clean the school premises.

  • 15 Oct 2019: Session on fire safety and burns prevention

To create awareness amongst the students a session on fire safety and burns prevention was organized by the Inner Wheel Club of New Bombay Hillside. Dr.Shruti and Mr.Vikas from National Burns Centre, Airoli addressed the session. It was all about understanding the types of burns, their causes and protection under such circumstances. The session ended up with the questionnaire and the students responded enthusiastically.

  • 15 Oct 2019: Vachan Prerna Diwas

To pay homage to our former president Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam ‘VachanPprerna Diwas’ was observed in the school the event began by offering floral tribute to Dr. Kalam. Students spoke about Dr. Kalam and the importance of reading. Reading was conducted in classes so that the children are encouraged to develop it as a hobby. This day reminded us that Dr. Kalam still continues to inspire us through his works and writings.

  • 16 Oct 2019: Teachers Training Workshop

Teachers training workshop was organized by the school management for all the teachers. The resource person for the workshop was Mrs.Archana Shukla, Principal of Vivekananda School, Latur. It was based on various aspects of assessment released by  C.B.S.E. and ways to incorporate it.

  • 22 Oct 2019: Story Telling and Poster Making Competition

Since time immemorial story telling has been an integral part of our childhood. To keep the tradition going and boost their imagination and to think out of the box a story telling competition was organized for the students of V to VII. A Poster making competition was also held for the students of VIII to IX. All the participants enthusiastically prepared the posters with vivid ideas and vibrant colors.

  • 24 Oct 2019: Rangoli Making Competition

To develop aesthetic sense amongst children and to make them think and work creatively a rangoli making competition was organized for the students of V to X.

All the participants showcased their artistic and imaginative flair through variety of beautiful rangolis.

  • 24 Oct 2019: Diwali Celebration

Diwali is the festival of lights which was celebrated in the school with enormous gaiety and fervor. Entire school wore a festive look with pots, diyas and lanterns adorning the corridors of the school. During morning assembly students talked about the significance of the festival and how Diwali is celebrated across the country. Pincipal Mr. Alok Sharma, sensitized the student about the ill effects of crackers and urged to celebrate eco friendly Diwali.
